Wow Davey Crockett day in the MD General Assembly? A hero that our generation doesn't give 2 shits about, the "Crockett Craze" of '54 had every kid in America wearing a Coonskin hat (and in England too where Disney tried to ship the craze). I guess that the the people on Maryland Capital Hill right now must have all been kids right at that time, fuckin crazies, they were probably the first generation of kids to be blasted with insanity by the Disney Corp. If it was cooler and more patriotic High School Musical might be playing on those speakers in 50 years. Sadly High School Musical (which I havent seen) has no redeeming value and at least Davey Crockett is based on a "real American hero" (As in great Indian "varmint" killer).
Here is the full 6 minute song itself. In its credit the song says Davy Crockett said the Injuns could keep their land and were due justice. The real Crockett hated being called Davy, he went by David, had a stint in the US House of representatives and then died at the Alamo. He was largely forgotten until Disney exhumed him, and I guess will fade away once again until another TV company takes a shot at him. For a while though kids in elementary schools across the country (i think up through the 70's), probably more so in midwest, had to learn the song and maybe do a one-act. Glad to see that the politicians are having fun...
On another note this is a Chinese rap video that is NASTY and has Mao leading an orchestra with his fast paced raps and woos from the kiddy choir.
